Norfolk Southern GP-38-2 5153

NS 5153 switching autorack cars out of the Ford Motor Company plant in Hapeville, GA. Good old GP38-2 high nose, doing what it does best. This Ford plant is on death row - they are shutting it down next year, as well as GM is shutting down the plant in Doraville. It makes me sad. These tracks are right behind the store I work at, and I enjoy going out the back door to have a break or take trash to the dumpster and watching them work. They say this line may be used for a GA commuter rail line sometime, as well as I believe NS is going to be using it for coal trains at some point, too. Its part of the old lines for the Georgia Railroad, and parts of it had been abandoned, but NS has been redoing grade crossings and signals all the way up and down the line, so it appears it will be being used for something. Its old jointed rail, but its in good condition overall.
